We are James and Michelle Halverson—husband and wife, best friends, ministry partners, and walking testimonies of God’s healing power.
Our story isn’t neat or polished. It’s messy, miraculous, and full of mercy. Together, we’ve
walked through addiction, divorce, loss, shame, and deep personal transformation. We know
what it feels like to hit rock bottom—and we know what it means to rise again by the grace of
God.

James Halverson
James Halverson is a seasoned business leader with over 25 years of experience spanning finance, construction, and faith-based leadership. With a proven track record in sales, project management, and organizational growth, James has led multi-million-dollar ventures and managed large-scale commercial construction projects across Las Vegas and beyond. From Wall Street to HVAC, and now to recovery ministry, James brings grit, integrity, and vision to everything he builds.
He began his career in finance, rising quickly through the ranks at Dean Witter, Smith Barney, and Dain Rauscher—earning national accolades, overseeing $100 million in managed assets, and mentoring the next generation of financial advisors. Transitioning into construction, James led the transformation of his family’s legacy HVAC business—Southwest Air Conditioning—into Hal Mechanical, one of Las Vegas’s most respected mechanical contractors. His projects have included major landmarks like Allegiant Stadium, Harry Reid International Airport, The Encore and Excalibur Hotels, and City Center.
Today, James serves as Executive Director of Next Step Recovery, a Christ-centered ministry launching in 2026 alongside his wife, Michelle Robinson-Halverson. Together, they are pioneering a movement that blends the principles of recovery with the power of spiritual transformation—offering practical tools, biblical truth, and deliverance through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Their mission is to walk with people beyond sobriety into total restoration and freedom.
James is also the author of the forthcoming book, Awakened: Embracing the Power of I Don’t Know—a deeply honest exploration of identity, humility, and healing. Drawing from personal experience, he invites readers to rediscover purpose by surrendering the illusion of control and embracing divine dependence.
Whether on a job site, behind a pulpit, or mentoring men one-on-one, James leads with humility, conviction, and a deep desire to help others build strong foundations—spiritually, professionally, and personally. He and his wife Michelle Halverson. Live in Texas and have 7 adult kids and 2 grandchildren. Family is everything after God.
Michelle Halverson
Michelle Halverson is a powerhouse communicator, strategic visionary, and transformational leader who has spent over 25 years empowering others to live with intention and lead with authenticity. As a best-selling author, media producer, business strategist, and conference founder, Michelle has built platforms that inspire people to rise from pain to purpose and reclaim their God-given identity.
She is the creator of SHINE Like a B.O.S.S., a national leadership movement and book series equipping purpose-driven leaders to build others, sow into their calling, and serve their communities. Michelle is also the founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Shine Magazine, an award-winning publication that reached over 40,000 readers and was nationally distributed through Barnes & Noble, Borders, and independent retailers.
Michelle has authored over 10 influential books, including God Crazy, Overcoming the Seven Deadly Emotions, The You Plan, and the Freedom Series. Her signature 8-week video study, Live Again, has helped thousands of women navigate divorce and rediscover wholeness. Her next book, SHINE Like a B.O.S.S., releases in 2025.
A natural platform builder and storyteller, Michelle has hosted and co-produced SHINE with Michelle on the INSP Television Network and The Mom Connection on Salem Radio. She has shared the stage with national leaders and influencers, spoken at churches, conferences, corporate events, and led leadership intensives for ministry and business leaders alike.
From 2018–2021, she served as Chief Counsel and Strategist for Promise Keepers, one of the most influential men’s ministries in the world. She is now the State Director for She Leads Texas, part of the national She Leads America organization, empowering Christian women to lead in faith, government, business, education, and media.
